Flowrida vs spreadsheets: when to leave Excel to steer your sales team
Este artículo está disponible en English.
Almost every sales team starts with a spreadsheet, and it is a good choice at first: free, flexible, known to everyone. The question is not whether the spreadsheet is bad (it is not) but from what point it costs more than it returns.
A spreadsheet tracks a list very well. It tracks a living team very poorly: several reps, calls flowing from the phone system, meetings that move, skills to assess, bonuses to recompute. This comparison does not try to disqualify Excel, but to place the tipping line honestly.
Comparison criteria
| Criterio | Flowrida | Spreadsheets |
|---|---|---|
| Direct cost | Per-seat subscription | Free |
| Setup | Fast, structure ready | Immediate but to be built |
| Real-time consolidated data | Native (calls, meetings, targets) | Manual entry and consolidation |
| AI call analysis | Automatic transcripts and summaries | Impractical |
| Reliability with many hands | Roles, history, consistency | Overwrites and diverging versions |
| Coaching & skill radar | Yes, activity-based | Impractical |
| Rep compensation & bonuses | Computed automatically | Manual copy-paste |
| Compliance & audit trails | Role access, traceability | No guarantee |
Where the spreadsheet stays unbeatable
For a one-off exploration, a pricing prototype or an ad hoc analysis, nothing beats a spreadsheet. Its flexibility is total and its learning curve is zero. As long as you are alone, with one or two reps and data you enter yourself, there is no reason to change.
Where it becomes a risk
The spreadsheet breaks silently as the team grows: an overwritten formula, a mis-copied tab, a version emailed around that becomes nobody's source of truth. With several reps, the time spent maintaining the file (and doubting its numbers) quickly exceeds the cost of a dedicated tool.
The most common tipping point: the day you want to know who is improving, who is struggling and why, then compute bonuses without them being disputed. That work, which requires reconciling calls, meetings and targets, is precisely what a spreadsheet does worst and what Flowrida does natively.
The honest verdict
Stay on the spreadsheet as long as you steer one or two reps and your decisions do not depend on fine-grained call analysis. Move to a dedicated cockpit as soon as you run a real sales team or steer on performance: at that stage, the spreadsheet's "free" costs hours and errors.
